Koroit Opal Turtle Necklace

144.00

Turtles have been major influences in mythology and origin stories for hundreds of years. They are one of the oldest symbols to represent the Earth. One of my favourite origin stories comes from the Seneca Haudenosaunee (Iroquois). When Mother Sky fell, the great Turtle rose from the waters to break her fall.

This Turtle necklace features a great piece of dark koroit opal. The opal has a lot of green flash and will glint in sunlight. The turtle is all hand sawed, stamped, and polished smooth out of sterling and fine silver. The silver has been patina darkened and sanded in places for maximum contrast, and was recycled from scrap and rolled into sheet by hand in my studio. This design is Navajo inspired.

Pendant is 1.75” tall. It rests on an 18" darkened sterling chain with an easy to use s-hook clasp.

As always comes sweetly packaged in a jewelry box ready for gifting.
