Algiz Rune Weaver Earrings

$0.00

Runes were used by ancient Germanic speaking peoples and have become popularly known as "Viking" runes. While much of their actual history and translation is debated, the runes have one common myth in ancient Norse lore that has been patched together by using two different sagas (mainly). In summation, the god Odin is attributed with unlocking the knowledge of the runes. In a story called the Havamal, Odin is said to hang from a tree (possibly Yggdrasil, the Norse World tree) for 9 nights until he in a way earns the runes. Runes are said to posses magical properties. They imbue the one who wears them or the item them are on with what they represent. In the old days, they would be carved into weapons or jewelry.

Algiz: Translation is roughly "elk", or "protection". Algiz stands for protection as a shield or shelter. It not only protects the wearer by blocking evil or harm, but also enables them to connect with the gods and channel energy. This rune is for the brave and strong willed.

Measurements: Earrings are between 2.5-2.75" tall in total.

These will come on an earring card in a sweet little muslin bag.
